SARAH ARNAUD

Current postdoctoral research, Philosophie

Stagiaire postdoctorale, Philosophie

sarah.audrey.arnaud@gmail.com

My research interests lie in the areas of philosophy of psychology and psychiatry, philosophy of mind, mainly on emotions, consciousness, moral agency and psychopathology. My current research project is entitled: Consciousness, Emotions and Moral Agency in Typical and Atypical Cognition. The main objective of my project is to study the nature and the roles of three processes, namely emotions, consciousness and moral agency, in a variety of psychiatric conditions that involve particularities in these areas. These include autism, social anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, psychopathy, addiction and depression. New theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of these functions (often considered from a neurotypical perspective) may be effective in revising our understanding of them. The inclusion of their study in atypical functioning is promising for a deeper and more adequate understanding of the mechanisms underlying them. I am also interested in studying the gender differences and biases that are at play in the understanding and the recognition of emotions. .
